Mercedes-Benz wrote a new chapter in the history of automotive engineering in 1959 when the revised passenger car range was presented under the motto 'The new six-cylinder - A class of its own'. With the 220 b, 220 Sb and 220 SEb models, three completely redesigned models were launched on the market, which were characterized by their elegant bodywork and characteristic tail fins. This design element was to characterize the name of an entire model generation. The new models were also pioneers in terms of safety, as a passenger cell with front and rear crumple zones was implemented for the first time. The models were also fitted with a padded dashboard and a steering wheel with padded plate as well as the first wedge pin door locks in this form. Our 1:18 scale model of the 220 S W 111 series (1959-1965) is a faithful reproduction of the original car, hand-assembled from over 100 individual parts made of die-cast zinc with plastic parts. It has an authentic paint finish in the original color and a high-quality decorated and flocked interior. Six parts of the model can be opened (doors, hood and tailgate). It is supplied in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging, which includes a screwdriver and a glove so that the model can be removed from the packaging without leaving fingerprints.
