The Mercedes-Benz SL of the R 230 model series was presented to the Hamburg press at the Deichtorhallen in June 2001. It impressed the press with its unique combination of electronic
suspension systems for driving pleasure and safety. In September 2001, the SL 55 AMG celebrated its premiere. Among other things, the model was equipped with a new V8 supercharged engine, making it the most powerful Mercedes-Benz passenger car at the time. The powerful styling, striking side skirts, dark-tinted
tail lights, exclusive 18-inch multi-spoke rims and four chrome-plated exhaust pipes make the SL 500 a real eye-catcher. Inside, the sports car makes a statement with colorful decorative stitching and cockpit instruments with bright dials and red hands. The SL of the 230 model series always carried the fixed roof with it. The vario-roof could be opened and closed at the touch of a button or by remote control in just 16 seconds. As a miniature model made of die-cast zinc with plastic parts, the SL 55 has a sporty appearance. As a hand-assembled precision model, the car was realized in the highest level of detail according to the original CAD data and painted in an authentic color. Four parts (doors, hood and tailgate) can be opened and the scale is 1:18. The model is supplied in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging and is limited to 1,000 pieces.
